Wanda sat on the grass near the sandbox, reading a book and keeping an eye on her children over the top of the pages. They seemed fairly content to just make sandcastles for the moment, which gave her a chance to unwind from the fight with the Brotherhood.

Kurt walked on the sidewalk passing through the park. He had gotten a few odd looks, but not because he was blue and furry (he had his image inducer on), but because he was wearing a bright yellow t-shirt while being followed by a large group of children. Across the t-shirt in bold, blue letters it read, "New York First Saints Church" with a cross in the center. A large smile plastered on his face as he led the children to the swing set. "Alright kinder! Who vants to go on the svings?"
"Me! MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" the children called as they rushed to the swings, each taking a swing with another child pushing. The group of eight started to play merrily as he went over under a tree of his own and pulled out a Religious Studies textbook.

Wanda looked up when she heard the group of children before turning back to her book. It was entirely important to her, just noisey. Smiling slightly, she looked over at her own children who were running around the sandbox like madmen.
The smile lasted all of two minutes until Thomas fell, skidding across the sand on his knees and elbows. Tears welled up in his eyes and his face scrunched up, though he looked like he was holding back sobs. Setting aside her book, she stood and scooped the boy up, rocking him slightly and brushing off sand.
"Hey, it's alright," she murmured softly, kissing his forehead lightly. "Shh..." she continued to try and soothe him, resting her bad hand on the boy's back.
Michael continued to play, frowning a little and looking up at them every once in a while.

Kurt looked up from his book when he heard a child crying. His dark blue, image induced, eyes look over to seeing a fairly familiar woman comforting a child. He marked his book and set it down by the tree and walked over. He had his own little firstaid kit in his pocket with neosporin, guaze, tweezers, as well as Scooby Doo bandaids. "Everything alright here?" he asked in a bright, semi-concerned tone. Part of him hoped he wouldn't be recognized.

"Yeah," Wanda nodded slightly, still rocking Thomas and shushing him. "He just fell. He's just a little scraped up, but he should be fine." Thomas clung tightly to her neck, crying softly into her shoulder and burying his fingers in her shirt. Kissing the top of the boy's head, she rubbed his back lightly with her sore hand.
Michael crawled up to them, plopping himself at Wanda's feet and wrapping one arm around her leg. Thumb in mouth, he rested his head against her calf as he waited for her to be able to focus her attention on him.

Kurt grinned and nodded, fishing out the first aid kit. "Vell, I haf just the thing," he said with a smile and offered the kit to Wanda. He turned to the child she was rocking and smiled. "Do you like Scooby Doo?"

Thomas nodded weakly, rubbing his eyes as Wanda carefully set him on the ground. Carefully, she pryed Michael off her leg so she could kneel. Gingerly, she cleaned and put bandages over Thomas's few scrapes, kissing his forehead and wipping away his tears.
"Thank you," she said to Kurt, handing back the first aid kit as she picked up Thomas again. After a moment of struggling, she scooped Michael up as well, wincing a little as he rested his weight on her cast.

Wanda nodded slightly, shifting their weight slightly. It wouldn't be so bad if her arm wasn't so beaten up, but it came with the territory. "If you don't mind," she answered softly.
"Swings?" Michael looked up at her hopefully. "I want to go play on the swings..."

He opened his sleeved arms for her. "Hand me vone, both, a few more if you've got any hidden," he said jokingly. He looked at the child that spoke and offered a large grin. He generally liked children. They had that innocence that he he saw very few people had.

Wanda laughed slightly and carefully handed him Michael. "Just the two. Michael," she nodded towards the one Kurt held, "and Thomas," she nodded towards the one she still held. Thomas had stopped crying by now, but was still clinging to her neck. "And I'm Wanda."

"Vell pleasure to meet the three of you," he said with a large grin. He inwardly 'eep'ed at the thought that it was a member of the Brotherhood that he was talking to. But no, no anxiety showed. He looked different. His appearance was a hologram now and he couldn't have felt more confident. He took Michael in his arms and rested him against his hip. "I'm Kurt." His lips parted into a large smile. "And those rascals over there, are part of my Youth Group." He gestured to the shirt that on the sleeve could read in small writing "Mutant Faith".

Wanda nodded slightly as she started to walk, holding Thomas tightly. "And I thought watching two children was hard work," she laughed softly as she counted up the group of children. "Eight, though, must get very trying. Even if it just for an afternoon. Do you do this often?"

"It is at times," Kurt said with a smile as he walked along side Wanda with a grin. "But it is good for the soul. It teaches me patience," he said as he approached an empty two swings. "I do it a few times a veek. It's not a problem for me anyvays. I do it through the church."
"And through school Cwawler!" a child said as he hopped off the swing and ran over to Kurt and Wanda. The little girl looked up at the two with wide, purple glowing eyes.
Kurt laughed as he ruffled the girls hair. "That too," he said with a large grin. "Now go push Danny, it's his turn."
"Mmmkay Cwawler!" the girl said as she skipped back over to the swings as a boy with green scales on his cheeks went on the swings.

Wanda smiled slightly, setting Thomas down and laughing as he ran off without any regard to having fallen minutes earlier.
"Mommy!" Michael frowned impatinetly as he struggled from Kurt's grasp. "Thomas took the last swing."
Smiling slightly, she lifted Michael from Kurt's arms and sat him on the ground. "You'll just have to share."

"CWAWLER!!!!!!!!!" a four year old boy with lizard-like eyes cried as he came running up to Kurt.
"Ach, vhat is it kinder?" Kurt asked as he scooped the boy up in his arms and held him. The boy looked up at Kurt with a large pout.
"Gladys says that you dye your fur bwue. I told her no, and then she cawed me a stupid head," the boy explained.
"Just so you know Benny, I don't dye it," he winked at the boy. "Now, I vant you to just remember that you know the truth on vhat my hair regimen is and let Gladys think she's right... I'll tell her later. Alright?"
"What a regimen?"
Kurt laughed. "Now go play Ben," he said with a grin as he set the boy down. Ben ran away with a large smile as he went back to the swings.

Wanda laughed and plopped down in the grass, watching her kids play among the rest. "I'm a twin. Trust me when I tell you I'm wise to every game they play. Especially the guilt one." She shrugged slightly and looked over at him. "Not to mention, I'm the only family they have. If I wasn't good with them, I'm sure they'd end up in therapy."
She shrugged again, looking back at the kids. "You're pretty good with your group of kids, too."

"Yo' not sowft Cwawler, you fuzzy!" a girl called from the swingset.
A light blush crossed Kurt's cheeks. He really didn't like having the kids talk about his mutation out in public, but he normally just shrugged it off.

Wanda arched an eyebrow. "You look pretty normal to me," she said. Shrugging slightly, she wrapped her arms around her knees and looked at the kids. "My father works with mutants... he has this theory that if the powers are activated early, the kids would be able to deal with them better. That's what he did to me and my brother. He wants to do it to my children when they're a little older too... like four or something."

"Ja... vell that is because I haf to cover it up," he said simply. He looked back at the children playing. "I had something similar done, fortunately I don't remeber it. It is not so much an idea that the child vill adjust easier... even to haf that as a child is detrimental to them emotionally or physically. If triggered too early it is possible that they vill not be able to haf the focus to control their gifts," he said as he glanced down at his holographic hands for a brief moment and then looked back at the swing set. "I haf mixed feelings... it is too much of a toss up for me to actually take a position. You can never tell vhat a mutation could bring."

"I think it could be easier," Wanda murmured. "I mean, when you're a teenager, you feel like a freak anyway... adding something like powers to that doesn't really help. But, at the same time, stripping your whole life away at four seems... dramatic. It's possible to have the X-Gene and not have mutations, the whole dormant thing."
