Wanda was stretched out across her bed, reading a newspaper with the twins curled up near the pillows. Puzzles, crayons, and coloring books were spread across the empty space of her bed and the floor from the boys playing earlier.
After their naps, the twins had been decidedly calmer and Wanda hadn't wanted to bother Mortimer, allowing the two to play in her room. Smiling softly, she carefully pulled the blanket up over the sleeping twins, trying to ignore the article on the latest mutant killings in the newspaper.
It was all much too personal for her, worrying about the mutant killings. After all, she'd lost her great-grandparents and grandparents to the Holocaust and it had ruined her parents and adoptive parents. Now the latest mutant persecution was affecting her father, siblings, herself, and even possibly her childern. And she was all too sick of it, to the point where she wanted to cry sometimes, even if she couldn't bring herself to cry.

Mortimer was finally finished in the garage. It had taken forever to fix Dom's car, mostly because the more things he fixed, the more things he found wrong. The thing was a deathtrap! He washed his hands and changed his shirt, then headed upstairs. The twins were probably awake and bugging the crap out of Wanda. He saw that the door to her room was ajar and opened it slowly. The kids were asleep, and Wanda was reading a magazine. "Hey," he said, "sorry I took so long in the garage. How are the kids?"

"They're fine," Wanda sat up and carefully folded the newspaper back up so the article was completely hidden. "They tired themselves out." Standing, she started to clean the room a little, pushing most of the mess of toys and clothes under the bed. On the bed, the twins shifted apart and dislodged a few stray crayons and puzzle pieces.
"How was the car?" she asked softly, carefully pulling the blankets back over the boys.

"The thing's a deathtrap," he said, helping her pick up some of the toys. "I'm surprised it's lasted this long, but it's fixed." He picked up a picture that one of the twins had drawn. It seemed to depict them battling Darth Vader.

Wanda laughed softly, picking up parts of a Mickey Mouse puzzle. "I think everyone's surprised that it still moves."
Smiling slightly, she put the puzzle on top of a stack of other puzzles and books on her desk. "Sorry about the mess, it's just..." she shrugged slightly. "I'd rather they were playing in here or in their room, instead of spreading toys all over the house."

"It's fine," he said, picking up more puzzle pieces and putting them in their box. "I'm sure I would've been a messy kid if I'd had any toys."

Wanda nodded slightly, holding up a stuffed cat that was being held together with little metallic threads. "Magneto found most of these from when Pietro and I were kids, but I don't remember ever having toys."

He picked up a teddybear with little metal buttons for eyes and a nose. It looked worn with love. He turned it over, finding Wanda's name stitched to the bottom of its foot. He handed it to her. "That's too bad."

Wanda nodded slightly, taking the bear and adding both the bear and the cat to a collection of toys that were fixed by metal. "Well, I do remember that Pietro and I tended to break them... a lot. Not purposely, but we used to fight over them and stuff."

"No, I'm not." Wanda stood walking over to the bed and sitting at the foot of it. "I'm just a young woman with two kids, a whore of a twin, and a psychotic father. I may have all the power, but I have none of the strength or control a goddess needs."

She sighed and looked at her comforter. Power crackled at her fingertips and a couple of books shook on her desk. "I am nothing more than a woman. I have no dillusions of grandeur, not like Magneto."
