Wanda smiled softly as she followed Mortimer. Michael was alseep before they even finished walking up the stairs, and she tried not to laugh.

Mortimer stood in the doorway and looked down at Thomas. "Which bed is yours?" "That one." Thomas pointed to a little bed with green sheets and a teddy bear. Mortimer put him down, and Thomas immediately wiggled underneath the covers and fell asleep.

After a bit of struggling, Wanda got Michael tucked into bed and gently kissed the boy's forehead as he feel into a deeper sleep. Smiling softly, she moved to smooth the blankets over Thomas, kissing his forehead as well.
"Sweet dreams," she whispered softly, watching them sleep for a minute.

Mortimer started down the stairs. Catseye, in her housecat form, was curled up and snoozing at the foot of the stairs. Didn't she ever sleep anywhere normal? Or at least out of the way? He stepped around her and sat down in the kitchen.

Wanda stood after a moment, turning off the light and shutting the door behind her. She made her way downstairs, stepping over Catseye as she did.
"Thank you, Mortimer," she murmured, leaning against the doorjam to the kitchen. "It meant a lot to me that you helped out with the twins."

"It's no trouble," he said.
Catseye got up and stretched. She shifted into her more human form - she still had a tail and cat's ears and never looked fully human - and padded into the kitchen.

Wanda watched Catseye move into the kitchen, still really keeping her eyes on Mortimer. "I'm serious," she murmured. "It means more to me than I could possibly tell you."
Frowning, she closed her eyes, unable to look at him. "I'm sorry about using you the way I did last night. I think that I'd like to give you a real chance somtime."

Mortimer glanced at Catseye. He'd rather not have this conversation with her around. "It's not your fault," he said, "I shouldn't have done what I did."
Catseye took a bottle of milk out of the fridge and poured it into a bowl. She sat down at the table and began drinking it, calmly lapping it up with her tongue.

Wanda nodded slightly, letting the subject drop. Walking into the kitchen, she pulled a bag of chips out of the cupboard and started to eat, having not eaten during lunch.

Catseye glanced at them, noticing the obvious tension between them. "What happened last night?" she asked. She knew she was being nosy, but if they were going to talk as if she wasn't even in the room, then that was their problem.

"A miscommunication," Wanda answered. It was at least partially the truth, and it was one of those answers that usually just let the subject drop.

"No need to get angry," said Catseye, "I was just wondering." She glanced at Mortimer, then went back to her milk. Mortimer looked away, thoroughly disgusted with Catseye's eating habits.

Wanda rolled her eyes and sat down at the table, averting her eyes from the other two occupants in the room.

She could tell that Wanda was angry at her. She put her milk down and turned to her. "What's your problem?" she demanded. "There is no problem," said Mortimer. "I wasn't talking to you."

"What makes you think I have a problem?" she snapped back, pulling her legs up under her. "Maybe I'm just a bitch all the time."

Catseye rose. She was beginning to morph, becoming more feline and less human. "Doesn't give you the right to take it out on me," she said. "Sharon, you're overreacting - " She whirled around, "this doesn't concern you, Toad."

Wanda made a face, holding her hand up while hexes played on her fingertips. "I'm not taking it out on anyone, you are overreacting. And you're annoying the hell out of me, now."

"Sharon, cut it out!" Mortimer rose and tried to grab her. Catseye jerked away from, slapping him hard across the face and leaving thin little clawmarks. "I told you to stay out of it!"

Wanda stood, pushing Catseye away from Mortimer with a hex. "God, what is with you? All because I don't want to answer your damn questions..." glowering, she grabbed Mortimer by the chin and examined the clawmarks.
"Are you okay?" she asked softly, trying to calm down even as a cupboard door shattered of its own accord.

"I'm fine." Catseye stood up slowly, her tail twitching. "Aw, your boyfriend got a boo-boo?" she asked, "it's no different than what you did to him yesterday when he got all touchy-feely."

Wanda's eyes flashed, though she never took them off Mortimer. The kitchen shook and things within exploded and broke of their own will.
"I suggest you stop talking, or you will get hurt," she informed Catseye cooly, her face completely devoid of emotion.

"So it's perfectly OK for you to slap him when he touches you, but I can't?" said Catseye, putting her hands on her hips. She noticed that Mortimer was blushing, obviously embarassed that she knew about the previous evening. She turned and began walking towards the back door. "Tell you what, Wanda, if you'd like to settle this, I'll be waiting outside."

Wanda said nothing, touching her fingers to the clawmarks on Mortimer's face. "I never said it was okay for me to slap him. Because it wasn't okay," she said cooly. "And you can wait outside until the end of time, because I don't feel like settling a pointless argument about God knows what."

She turned and looked at them with an arched eyebrow, "if it wasn't OK, then why'd you do it?" She finished morphing into her panther form and left, walking placidly along the lawn and towards the woods behind the house.

Wanda kept her eyes on Mortimer's face, stroking his cheek lightly with the back of her fingers. "I hit you because I was afraid," she informed him, almost as if she needed to hear the answer as much as he did.
