She pulled back almost as soon his hand went up her shirt, slapping him as hard as she could. Nobody was allowed to do that without her permission. Especially not people she would have to do deal with on a regular basis.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" she snapped, readjusting her shirt.

He jerked back instinctively, nearly falling off the steps. "I'm sorry," he said, "I'm so sorry." You stupid, ugly, horny git! Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I knew something like this was going to happen. Why did I even try? She shook those thoughts off, backing towards the door and glaring at him. She'd let her defenses down when he'd been so sweet, not like the guys she'd got through years of one-night stands with. And then he'd gone and ruined it like that.

He turned away from her. "I'm so sorry." You worthless horny git! He got up. I have to get out of here. God, I need a drink. "I'm...I'm sorry." He couldn't bring himself to look at her.

She fumbled with the door knob, pushing the door open. Stumbling slightly, she backed through the open doorway, screaming softly as her sore arm banged against the doorframe.
God, how did I screw up so badly in so short of time?

She nodded slightly. "I... um... see you later, then," she stumbled with the words, already feeling her angry resolve crumble into... nothing. And it scared her, as much as she could be scared while feeling nothing.

He turned and left, walking as fast as he could without running. He felt like crying. He'd gone and ruined everything. She'll never love me now, he thought, she didn't love me to begin with, and I've gone and ruined everything.

Wanda turned and all but ran into the depths of the house, slamming the door behind her. A lone tear worked its way down her cheek as she threw herself on to the couch in the living room, curling into a fetal postion and protecting her sore arm.

He flinched as the door slammed shut and turned back to the house. I've ruined everything. He stared at the house for a long time before turning and walking away, heading for the nearest liquor store.

She slowly drifited into an uneasy sleep, not noticing the other Brotherhood members make their way in and out of the living room to check on her. All she wanted was to wake up and pretend that none of it had happened.

He kept walking. God, what if someone saw us? What if she tells Pietro I tried to molest her? What if she tells Magneto? Oh God, I'm a dead man...all the more reason for a drink...He forced himself to continue despite his aching legs and dwindling energy.

She awoke sometime later, feeling slightly sick. Touching a hand to her stomach, she tried to ignore what had just happened to her.
Why did I let him go like that? He's going to do something stupid and it'll be all my fault...

Mortimer reached the liquor store and silently bought a bottle of gin. He left, carrying the paper bag gently under his arm. It was just occuring to him that he couldn't drink in public, but he couldn't go home either. He sighed as he began to automatically walk back to the Brotherhood Mansion. He'd hide in the backyard like a criminal and get hammered that way.

Wanda found the remote and turned on the TV, flipping blankly through the channels and drifiting in and out of sleep. She just wanted to stop thinking about it. It had been her own fault for letting her defenses down and letting herself start the whole mess, something she'd sworn never to do again. Ever since she'd gotten pregnant.

It was almost pitch black when he got back to the Mansion. He sat down on the steps, in no mood to go any further, and unscrewed the cap on his gin bottle. He took a drink, flinching as the burning liquid passed down his throat.

After a long while, Wanda stood and started off in search of cigarettes. Pressing her hand against her stomach, she made her way outside to find the half empty pack she'd left out her.
"Oh," she mummbled softly upon seeing Mortimer, the light from the front hall flooding the darkness outside.

"Hi," she replied, feeling rather stupid. Her stomach twisted a little more as she watched him drink, the guilt making her feel sick.
After a moment of just standing in the doorway and staring at his back, she decided she should probably look for those cigarettes she'd come out for. Biting her lip, she moved closer to him and snatched up the pack from next to the steps, fumbling to pull out one of the white sticks and trying to light it.

She laughed, a cold, bitter laugh. Taking a long drag on her cigarette, she arched an eyebrow at him. "I was using you..." she whispered softly. "It's just... I've never really been cared for, you know? And I was just so desperate for any kind of affection and you were right there. There's no excuse for what I did and I'm sorry."
