Kurt Wagner enjoyed working with children. His unrelenting patience had always showed that. Even when that included their rather "destructive" tendancies. He enjoyed hearing their laughter and took no grievance with comforting them when they cried. With every scraped knee, broken toy, and burnt down swingset, Kurt showed the same compassion that he had for everyone; which was deep and endless.
But everyone needed a break at some point.
Especially when he saw his ex, Amanda, hanging off the shoulder of some jock that they'd gone to school with. To say it was a bit of a sting to his pride was an understatement. He shook it off though and continued his day; coming home from classes and just taking the keys to one of the cars with the response that he was simply going "out". To say that he had been taken to a new limit was an understatement. For some reason, it was just frustrating to see her so happy with someone that was the exact opposite of himself. It just seemed like a blow to his humble ego to see her with someone that was that obviously normal looking.
He still couldn't figure out why, though, he found himself at a shopping center. He wasn't a large fan of shopping, and he wasn't too into crowds. But where his image inducer was on and he was just another face in the crowd was somehow comforting at this moment.
It wasn't so much that he was jealous as it was that it somehow felt like a challenge to his normalcy. He let out a sigh as he sat down on the edge of the fountain and hunched forward a bit. His hand rubbed the back of his neck.

Wanda was furious. She had spent two hours on the phone arguing with her father on where to drop the kids off. And then another hour trying to find someone to switch shifts with because her father had decided they needed to meet in a public place for the drop off and picked the time in the middle of her shift. After another hour of stomping around the boarding house in a generally bad mood and changing her shirt twice because the stupid scratches just had to reopen, she'd stolen Dom's jeep and made her way to the mall.
Only to find that her father was most certainly not at the meeting spot.
Wanda swore upon everything holy, she was going to rip Magneto apart molecule by molecule when she saw him. Public place or not. Besides, who was going to call the cops on her when she was taking down one of the most dangerous mutants on the planet?
Growling, she wound her way through the crowd and plopped down on the edge of the foutain, intent on staring at the door and grilling her father the moment he walked through.

Kurt's ears twitched at the sound of a fairly familiar growl as he felt someone plop down not to far away from him. "Rough day?" he asked without even looking up. A tired smile forced on his lips.

Wanda looked over, slightly shocked when someone talked to her. She was almost positive that she'd seen him before, but she couldn't quite place it. "Parents, you know?" she shrugged slightly.

Kurt nodded, hearing the voice now and was now 100% he was talking to Wanda. He looked up finally and turned his head to look over at her. "Ja," he said with a slight laugh, figuring Wanda didn't recognize him. "Either incredably early or insanely late," he said with a half smile.

Wanda nodded slightly, and brought one leg up to her chest, curling her arms around her knees. His voice was definetly familar, now she just had to place. "Guess they think they can blow off their own kids."

Kurt was now a bit amused that Wanda didn't know who he was, especially after the park. But no matter. He nodded. "That I guess is the authority that comes vith parenting."

She nodded slightly. It was slowly starting to click in her mind just who she was talking too. "I don't think I could do that to my kids..."

Kurt offered a very large grin. "Vell then, you're vhat separates the bad parents from the gut," he said lightly. He turned so he could fully face her. "Avter all, learning from your parents' faults is one of the beauties of parenting."

Wanda nodded slightly, resting her cheek against her knees and looking over at Kurt. "Well, if family tradition holds, my kids are going to have stronger powers than I do. And I really don't want to be on the recieving end of that."

"Vell then, the more reason not to do that to your kinder I suppose," he said with a light laugh. He still was not about to hint at who he was. Though he was sure that the accent was a pretty good hint.

She smiled slightly, letting silence fall between them for a minute. "You know, I thought you would have tried to kill, or at least attack, the first Brotherhood member you saw," she told him quietly, making sure no one else heard. "What, with the little stunt we pulled last time... not that I'd blame you, of course. Occupational hazard of setting sentinels on people."

Kurt couldn't help but laugh and shook his head. "Occupational hazard of being an X-man," he said simply in the same tone. "Avter all, I thought it vas established zat I vas the cool one," he said with a laugh. "That and I haf yet to vully recovered."

Wanda grinned slightly. "I suppose I'll just have to keep a look out for the uncool X-Men, then," she nodded slightly. "You weren't hurt too bad, were you?" Not that she was supposed to care, or even wanted to. But Kurt just didn't seem like the "enemy" that Magneto had pounded into her. He was just too nice to be anything like Xavier or any other person she considered hostile.

"I don't even think they vant to start anything at this point," Kurt said simply with a shrug. "I haf a few scratches, it vas pretty much fatigue that hit me," he added with a slight shrug. "Evacuating people and trying to distract Sentinels on an empty stomach does that to you," he shrugged and offered a large grin. "Did you get out alright?" he asked in a concerned tone.

Self-conciously, Wanda pressed a hand to her chest, as if covering the cuts. Though, there was no way he could see them anyway, her shirt covered the bandages anyway. "Fine, other than a few cuts and a lesson in adamanitum..." She shrugged.

"I think that's why I am on ze side I'm on... I don't haf to learn that one," he said with a slight laugh. He was particularly glad that the wounds he had on his back were covered very well by his orange zip-up sweatshirt and navy blue t-shirt. "I haf that lovely sense of self-preservation."

Wanda smiled slightly. "Well, you were lucky enough to have your supervillain parent dump you," she answered. "Not that that's a good thing under normal circumstances... but you wouldn't be half as sweet as you are now if Mystique did raise you..."

"Oh I count mien blessings," he said sarcastcally with a slight laugh. He tilted his head to the side thoughtfully. "Really... I vouldn't be as sveet? I'd like to think I'd stay the same no matter who raised me."

Wanda shrugged slightly, looking over at him. "The Brotherhood, and Mystique especially, has a tendancy to sap the hummanity right out of a person."

Wanda arched an eyebrow. "Last night I brought down a building on top of a hundred scientists, and as far as I know not one lived. And I don't have any regrets about it. That's not a human thing."

"Vell, I'll haf you know that I saved at least a third of them. So ha," Kurt said in a tone of fake arrogance. "Vell if it helps, I felt sympathy for your cause the other night... I'm not sure if I am doing the right thing by getting involved anymore," he stated with a simple sigh.
