 Notes and Romantic Shit

The clock gave the solid chime of one in the mornning. All was quiet in the mansion as the hallways were deserted. Well, almost considering Bobby Drake was approaching the door to Kitty's room with the stealthiness of a very clumsy (and possibly mentally challenged) ninja. He had managed to trip on someone's skateboard, a bag of what looked like paints, and what seemed to be a giant teddybear that one would win at a carnival.

So now, with his left food caked in wet paint and leaving a trail behind him and his right foot wedged in the stitching of the giant plush's neck and a hefty bruise on his elbow, Bobby finally trudged to the door. He pulled out a role of tape from the pocket of his navy blue sweatpants and placed a note on the door and attempted to tape it on, only to have the door creak open. Bobby fell forward with a loud "OOMF", hitting his head on the corner of the door as he did so. Unfortunately it was hard enough to knock him unconscious.

So now... Bobby Drake was in the threshold of Katherine Pryde's doorway... with one foot covered in paints and the other wedge within a teddy bear... unconscious... and holding out an envelope that contained his pathetic attempt of a kind-of love letter.

Fuck.

It wasn't long before Logan came walking by, coming in late with a six pack in one hand and a lit cigar in the other. He looked over the mess as he passed wondering, then found his answer laying in an open doorway.

Sticking the cigar in his mouth he nudged the prone body of Bobby with the toe of his boot. "Hey, Drake."

"FuuuuUUUUck," Bobby bellowed as he rubbed his head and turned over. "Where the shit-" he then noticed Logan standing over him as he opened his eyes, causing him to drop the note on the ground. "Balls," he groaned as he shut his eyes and turned over again. "Ugh... this isn't the Red Sox stadium," he said as he finally sat up and looked at Logan.

"Trying to enjoy a good baseball game?" he suggested with a shrug of his shoulders before rubbing the top of his head, forgetting that he had dropped the note.

"Curt Schilling 14 wins 7 loses this season alone. Pretty decent... not their best... but he's an asset to the hometeam," Bobby said with a shrug. "He was better when he was with Arizona though." He attempted to make another grab for the note.

Logan shrugged and folded the note into his palm. "Huh, don't really follow the game much myself. Guess that explains how come I never heard of games bein played at one in the mornin'."

"Extra innings Logan, one always expects extra innings," Bobby said as his expression drooped slightly as he watched Logan fold the note in his hand.

Logan shook his head and tucked the note in the breast pocket of the flannel shirt he was wearing, part of the paper hanging out. Pulling the cigar from his mouth with his now free hand he pointed it at Bobby. "So let me get this straight. Yer off to a baseball game, middle of the night an what happened? That teddy bear attack you knock you out?"

Fuck, Bobby thought to himself. "Well... actually a skateboard attacked me first... then the paints took away my footing and that's when the bear tried to finish me off," he explained with a slight nervous chuckle. "So if I could have those stats back... that'd be super."

Logan was taken by surprise, its not every day someone is crazy enough to attack him. He fell backwards with Bobby on top, making an effort to save his beer and cigar. "Geez kid!"

Landing on his back he set the beer safely down then shoved Bobby back, keeping him from reaching his shirt pocket where the note was tucked.

Bobby had tried once more to make a grab for the note before being shoved away. "Just give it back," he said simply, as if the solution was obvious. "It's important."
